Chinese tourist arrivals to Maldives in January increase by 16 percent

Chinese tourist arrivals to Maldives in January has increased by 16 percent. Records published by the tourism ministry shows that tourists from Chinese market increased by 16 percent.

The records show that 125,336 tourists visited Maldives on January 2017 while the figure was at 108396 in 2016. Out of these 30669 tourists were from China. In January 2016, 23241 Chinese tourists visited Maldives. Hence this year a 16 percent increase can be seen.

According to the records 8630 tourists visited from the UK last month and this is an 11 percent increase compared to 2016. In addition, 6847 tourists visited from Russia and this is a 30.4 percent increase compared to 2016. While 12076 tourists visited from Italy, 7803 tourists visited from Germany. Tourist arrivals from Germany decreased by 0.4 percent.

Chinese market started to improve after a decline of 2 years.
